What is Circle Talks?

Circle Talks, "Çember Sohbetleri" in Turkish, is the live conversation broadcast of Genç Pusula ("Young Compass"). In each episode we choose a question (why are young people unhappy, what is true friendship, how real is the thing we call "I") and talk about it together, in turn. The broadcasts are live on YouTube and Kick; full recordings are on YouTube and short clips on Instagram. The conversations are in Turkish; on this site you'll find them translated into English.

Why do we do it?

Everyone has withdrawn into their own shell; even when we talk together, most of the time we focus only on what we're going to say. Yet we believe lasting happiness lies in the bond between people. We make these broadcasts to show young people they're not alone and to learn again how to listen to one another.

It's not that we know a lot and will teach you. Actually we're all learning together, all developing together.

How do we talk?

Every conversation follows the Circle Method. It has three rules, and we go over them again at the start of each episode:

  1. No one interrupts anyone. While one person speaks, the others only listen.
  2. There's no right or wrong. No one tries to win the argument.
  3. Everyone speaks in turn. The word goes around the circle and reaches everyone.

In the special episode by Lake Sapanca we also talked, in the circle itself, about why we make these broadcasts: Sapanca Special Episode.
